Ρούσσος Κούνδουρος / Roussos Koundouros

Roussos Koundouros appeared as a documentary film-maker in 1953 and focused on this genre with a unique passion. Most of his films form part of an attempt to popularise medical scientific issues and render them accessible to the broader public. He also made documentaries on current issues, on subjects of ethnology and folklore, as well as history, always with a personal, thought provoking perspective. During the last years of his life he was active in the field of radio programme production and is considered as one of the pioneers of free radio broadcasting in Greece.

The 9th Athens Avant-Garde Film Festival is carried out in the context of “Cinephilia in the New Age II” which is funded by the European Union — European Regional Development Fund (Operational Programme ROP ATTIKI of NSRF 2014-2020). All actions are carried out under the auspices of the Hellenic Ministry of Culture and Sports.
